Abuses? You don't do that to (the) Liturgy!

Following the "You don't do that to me" craze, here is a series of memes about liturgical abuses. This is a simple way of reminding all of us of the great value of the Liturgy, especially of the Holy Mass. Such an important gift from God must not be abused.

"Entertainment is good, but not at Mass." (Cardinal Arinze)

In celebrating the sacraments the liturgical books approved by competent authority are to be observed faithfully; accordingly, no one is to add, omit, or alter anything in them on one’s own authority. (CIC 846)

With this heightened sense of mystery, we understand how the faith of the Church in the mystery of the Eucharist has found historical expression not only in the demand for an interior disposition of devotion, but also in outward forms meant to evoke and emphasize the grandeur of the event being celebrated. (Ecclesia de Eucharistia 49)

There will be more to come! You may comment here to share more liturgical abuses you have experienced.
