Pope Benedict XVI: Love and respect for the Liturgy 'til the end!

On Pope Benedict XVI's last public Mass on Ash Wednesday, after Cardinal Bertone delivered his message to him, the congregation offered him a long round of applause. The dear pontiff stopped the applause by saying, "Thank you! Let us return to prayer", in Italian. Until his last public Mass as supreme pontiff, Pope Benedict XVI's humility and deep love of the Liturgy is still very much evident!

This is a reminder for all of us to love and respect the Liturgy, for there we encounter God in a unique way. It is also a reminder for all lay ministers and priests not to make the Liturgy a "show" where they, or anything else other than God, can be the stars.
